Muscle Differentiation

Overview

We accept the following cell types for differentiation into skeletal muscle myoblasts:

  • Human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)
  • Human embryonic stem cells (ESCs)

We are happy to advise on obtaining an appropriate cell line for your project.

Differentiation Module 1: hPSC differentiation into skeletal muscle

In this module, which takes about 8-12 weeks to complete, the iPS Core will differentiate a human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) line into functional myoblasts.

Service steps include an initial thawing/passaging of the hPSC line of interest, 30 days of stepwise differentiation, filtration of early myoblasts, and a final expansion.

This module delivers a cryopreserved stock of the early myoblasts (at p0) and a cryopreserved stock of expanded myoblasts (at p1). The expanded myoblasts are optimal for secondary differentiation into myofibers.
